Even a Happy Hour on World Renowned Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, can be daunting. So many options, so many food styles, and everyone wants you to join them at their restaurant, cafe and/or bar!
Most of the places will offer you discounts on drinks but only some will add a food menu to their happy hour specials. Doraku is a great option and they actually host happy hour twice a day!
Oh yes, they host happy hour 12pm-3pm for lunch and them 5pm-7pm with different food options.
What is Doraku? Well, it is mostly sushi and Japanese food. They offer indoor and outdoor seating and a great happy hour menu with good size portions. We love sitting outdoor as much as we can before the hot Miamian summer arrives!
Here’s our experience!
Some geography to find it: located on the western side of Lincoln Rd. in front of the ponds and next to the Movie Theater. Quiet, yet trendy location with most stores like Ted Baker, Alchemist, and next to a newly relocated Romero Brito gallery.
When you order the food it will arrive as it is prepared. (this is probably a negative at least for my taste) but so you know and maybe you can request your waiter to not to bring orders with that much separation. but then again, this is not a dinner and positions are not your huge Miami Beach dinner plates. However, they are still good to share. so you can taste several dishes.
The green salad with tuna tartare which was the opening. just enough to wake your taste buds and prepare your body for more good stuff to come.
We started off ordering the Salmon Kama. It was a rich flavored big chunk of juicy salmon! I know I should say something prettier, but this is the best way to describe it and this is not a culinary blog, so trust me it is good and big.
Whole Grilled Squid. This was the first time we ordered this plate as we usually come for sushi and it was so good! An entire plate of smokiness flavored and aromatic squid cooked to perfection and served on a bed of greens.
We did come to a sushi place, so why not order rolls, right? You count with 10 different options for sushi on a happy hour menu. at $5.75 and 6.75 for specialty rolls. and this is besides other small bites or even hot dishes (like Salmon ) for you to enjoy.
No happy hour is complete without happy hour cocktails and drinks: Sake starting at $7.75 (there must have a spiritual connection with number 75) but if you are not a sake drinker you always have your Margaritas, Martinis, and wines. If you know me from the other posts, YES! I ordered Lychee Martini!
So, next time you are on Lincoln Road, for lunch or dinner time, sit outdoors, people watch and have good Sushi!
Kampai!
